Using Curiosity to Achieve Equality: How to Know what You Don't Know

MLK Day 2021

How can I identify knowledge gaps?

  • Be curious
  • Seek out different perspectives
  • Consult different types of sources.  Different types of sources will share perspectives in different ways and different depths.
  • Once you've identified gaps, look for an "insider's point-of-view."  Archives keep primary sources, oral histories, and other kinds of first hand accounts.  Many are digitized so anyone can access the records.
