ENG 224: Literature Imagination & Empathy

This course requires you to find a primary source of literature in the form of fiction, memoir (autobiography or personal narrative), poetry, or play (drama), addressing a topic of your choice and its' relationship to empathy.  When searching the WorldCat Discovery library catalog, add a literary subject heading to your topical search.  For example:

  • Fiction - e.g., Survival Fiction; Diseases Fiction; Identity Fiction; Dysfunctional Families, Fiction; Fiction, Family Life; Self-destructive Behavior, Fiction; etc.
  • For memoir use:  Autobiography or Personal narrative- e.g., Autobiography and Gender; Autobiography and Race; Autobiography and Mental Illness; Autobiography and Hope; Personal narrative and ageing; Personal narrative and fear; etc.
  • Poetry - e.g.:  Indians of North America, Poetry; Women Authors and Poetry; People with Disabilities, Poetry; Immigrants, United States, Poetry; American Poetry, African American Authors; etc.
  • For play use:  Drama—Collections - e.g., Drama Collections and Women; Drama Collections and Race; American Drama, 21st Century; Political Plays, American; etc.
