Searching for eBooks

For low vision and blind readers, ProQuest eBook Central books can be read aloud in Adobe Digital Editions.

Step 1: Download your selected title into ADE.

Step 2: Turn VoiceOver on by going in the menu bar to:  

Adobe Digital Editions > Services > Service Preferences > Universal Access > Turn VoiceOver on or off.

• Open your book in ProQuest Ebooks. Select Full Download. 
   

• ​Follow prompts to install Adobe Digital Editions software.

  • Open Adobe Digital Editions, then Authorize Your Computer.

    • Optionally, create an Adobe ID and then authorize.

    • With an Adobe ID, you can access library ebooks from any computer.
      
      

• Go back into ProQuest Ebooks to download your book.
  ​

  • Choose a loan period: 1, 7, 14, or 21 days

  • Download your book file. (file will have extension .acsm)

  • Locate the file in your Downloads. It should open using Adobe Digital Editions.

• Open your book in ProQuest Ebooks. Select Full Download. 
   

• ​When prompted, install BlueFire Reader on your device.

  • Authorize BlueFire Reader using your Adobe ID.

  • If needed, create a free Adobe ID.
    
    

• Go back into ProQuest Ebooks to download your book.
   

  • ​Choose a loan period: 1-21

  • Select EPUB (resizeable) or PDF (formatted like print)

  • Download and open your ebook file

    • From your computer: Save file and send to device
      • Open with BlueFire Reader
    • From your device: Open file with BlueFire Reader
