APA PsycInfo® is produced by the American Psychological Association (APA) and covers peer-reviewed literature in behavioral science and mental health. Included is information on the psychological aspects of related fields such as medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, technology, linguistics, anthropology, business, law and others. Journal coverage, which spans from the 1800s to the present, includes international material selected from periodicals in dozens of languages. APA PsycInfo® is indexed with controlled vocabulary from APA's Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms®

Hints for using APA PsychInfo:

  1. PsychInfo uses a thesaurus of terms to help describe the content of articles, books, and other resources.  A thesaurus is a controlled vocabulary that establishes a preferred term to be used across synonyms, and defined broader and narrower terms.  Using the subject terms from the thesaurus can make your searching more effective.  Click on the APA Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms at the top of the PsychInfo home page to explore your topic.
  2. Use the Advance Search option to apply other search options and limits: Classification codes, Methodology, and Age Groups.  The classification codes are another way that PsychInfo connects articles and resources on similar topics.  Check out the tutorial below for more information.
